Reporting to the Superintendent Track & Signals, the Track Maintenance Specialist will support all facets of the track team and assist with track defects, problem solving, sustainable improvement projects, Safe working Procedures, project execution and incident investigations. Working closely with Asset Management Reliability Engineer they will ensure that all safety, environmental and maintenance targets are met in line with RTIO policy, State and Federal regulations.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist the track team in identifying, planning and supervising major maintenance activities to provide safe and reliable operation of the railway, ensuring that all safety policies are adhered too
- Identify engineering fixes to improve the reliability and ability of the rail network through engaging with new technologies and practices
- Lead the development and implementation of improvement projects. Propose improvements to maintenance processes to support predictive maintenance activities
- Communicate with key stakeholders including Train Control, Rail operations, RSM and Engineering Support
- Manage the engagement and performance of external contractors and suppliers
- Data analysis to improve track and infrastructure reliability and performance
- Provide rail condition, defects and performance data and reports
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement
This role would suit someone with a mechanical engineering degree accompanied by a strong background in rail operations. Your sound knowledge of proactive maintenance principles and demonstrated interpersonal and negotiation skills are essential. A qualification in frontline management is advantageous.
