CH2M HILL Closure Technical Manager, Mining Career - Whitehorse, Canada

Our engineering jobs are your opportunity to help close and restore environmentally impaired mining sites, and support mine planning and design. You will support mining projects in all phases of the mining life-cycle, from feasibility studies through detailed design and construction. You should be a self-motivated, team-focused individual with a minimum B.S. in Engineering (M.S. preferred) and successful 15-20 year track record in the engineering field specifically focused on mine closure and reclamation issues, and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each engineering assignment.
Our Closure Engineers :
- Consider risks posed by the project to human health and the environment
- Be the main point of technical contact with the client and affected First Nations
- Provide technical direction to project team on closure and reclamation approaches, options, and how to evaluate
- Provide technical updates project management
- Mentor junior staff
- Ensure coordination between “Engineering" and “Regulatory" aspects of the project
- Provide technical updates to the client and affected First Nations
- Discuss closure and reclamation approaches with the client, options, and how to evaluate
- Develop strategy for closure and reclamation
- Develop strategy for how to convey and describe the closure and reclamation plan to the client and public stakeholders
- Answer/relay questions from client to the technical team
- Review deliverables
- Ensure the correct staff (experience, skills) are working on various project tasks
- Ensure the correct focus and level of talent for senior review
- Maintain licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE)
Position consists of approximately 20% traveling and 80% home office. CH2M HILL will not sponsor an employment visa to fill this position.
Basic Qualifications:
BS in civil, geotechnical, geological, or environmental engineering. Engineering license. Have a track record of team management in the engineering discipline Minimum 15 years engineering experience, including significant experience on mining projects Requires ability to demonstrate general knowledge of mine closure and facilities design practices and relevant federal and state regulations
Degree Required
Bachelors or 4 Year Degree
