CH2M HILL Mining Geochemist Careers - Edmonton, Canada

The challenge? Help save and protect the one and only earth we have. Our Mining Geochemist jobs are your opportunity to help restore environmentally impaired mining sites. You will support mine closure and remediation projects, utilizing your understanding of mining-related contamination sources and fate and transport of contaminants.  You should be a self-motivated, team-focused individual with a minimum B.Sc. degree (M.Sc. preferred) in Geochemistry, Chemistry or related field, have a successful 10-20 year track record with a focus on mining projects, and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each geochemist assignment.

Our Mining Geochemists:

• Provide technical expertise in mining-related soil and aqueous geochemistry,  including modeling of transport and fate of chemicals in soil, groundwater, and surface water systems
• Contribute expertise to support mine closure and remediation
• Manage technical tasks for mining projects that support feasibility studies, design, permitting, and construction
• Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures for geochemical data analysis (e.g. graphical, statistical, thermodynamic)
• Support projects for both industrial and federal clients
• Understand regulatory requirements and interface effectively with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients
• Plan, execute and supervise geochemical site investigations
• Possess a working knowledge of geochemical modeling software, and utilize industry-accepted software to perform geochemical analyses
• Lead and support safety programs and procedures
• Complete tasks within schedule and budget constraints

Position consists of approximately 25% field work/traveling and 75% office. CH2M HILL will not sponsor an employment visa to fill this position.

Basic Qualifications:

• BSc. in Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• At least 10 years of experience in environmental consulting, including managing tasks/projects
• Experience in mine geochemistry and working with mining industry clients
• Experience with geochemical modeling and groundwater flow/transport software (PHAST or other)
• Requires general project management/project delivery experience for site management/site remediation projects
• Knowledge and experience with various media investigations (soil, groundwater, and surface water), assessments and remediation technologies
• HAZWOPER and/or MSHA certification or ability to obtain
