The Company has an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual for the position of Field Engineering Technical Lead at their oil sands SAGD facility. Reporting directly to the Construction Management Team Superintendent, the successful candidate will lead a team of 15+ engineers and technologists and work cooperatively with our senior CMT members. The Oil sands facility is a fly-in camp situation north of Lac La Biche. The successful candidate will reside in camp. Transportation is provided to site from various departure points (Cold Lake/Bonnyville (bus) and Calgary, Red Deer, Edmonton, Lloydminster, Medicine Hat,
Saskatoon (air)).
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Provide safety leadership by personally exemplifying the Company’s safety initiatives.
Ensure all safety, environmental and government regulations are maintained.
Manage Field Engineering team personnel.
Adhere to and maintain CMT Procedures Manual and the Construction Execution Plan.
Provide direction and mentoring to Field Techs and Field Engineers in their review of drawings and creation of scope documents into Construction Work Packages (CWP’s) for Earthworks, Civil works, Heavy Lift, Architectural and Building support, Tank Fabrication support, Piping Mechanical Tracing/Insulation, Electrical and Instrumentation, and estimate CWP’s for tender as well as track contractors progress.
Provide direction and mentorship to the CMT Piping Lead & Team during Shutdown design and interface, 3D Model maintenance and contractor support, and Redline Master Stickfile maintenance.
Provide direction and mentorship to the project schedulers who maintain the Construction Schedule including EV analysis, generate CMT construction progress reports, and develop schedules for future upcoming projects.
Coordinate with Commissioning and Startup team to plan handover of systems and units.
Manage/Plan hydrotest package within construction work packages (CWP and CWP within turnover packages to support prioritized handover.
Champion data analysis of completed work and ensure learning’s are implements in a timely fashion.
Coordinate work with CMT document Control and Project Controls teams.
Liaise Team’s work with Calgary Head Office, EP Companies, Operations and Operationsconstruction, Drilling & Completions and Commissioning & startup teams.
Skills/Qualifications:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Certification as a CET is a minimum requirement. Certificated as a PEng., Professional Licensee or P.Tech. would be an asset.
Previous experience in providing management / supervisory experience to construction teams.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in Industrial Construction, either within and EPCM or oil and gas environment.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent project management, scheduling and time management skills.
Strong background in 3D model management for construction planning, progressing.
Registration and good standing with ASET or APEGGA would be an asset.
Familiar with Primavera
Strong computer skills.
