Electrician north of Juneau, Alaska, USA
Coeur Alaska is recruiting an Electrician for our Kensington Gold Mine, located 45 miles north of Juneau, Alaska. We are seeking talented candidates who will work safely and productively with limited supervision while helping to achieve Company goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all electrical and associated equipment in a safe, environmentally responsible and timely manner.
Underground Mining Equipment Preventive Maintenance
Install and maintain underground electrical distribution system and all components
Ensure that required maintenance and repair items are readily available
Plan and complete work based on Company guidelines for safety, environmental compliance and general work practices and procedures
Responsible for pre-shift inspection of work areas and equipment, and responds appropiately
Prepares computer generated work orders, checks the status of direct orders and interacts with warehouse and purchasing personnel
Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

While performing the duties of this job, employees may be frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; use hand and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Employees may be frequently exposed to underground work environments; outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in most work environments is usually very loud. This position may require work on nights, weekends and rotating shifts; shift schedules may require residency in on-island camp during work rotations.
Experience:
Five years underground or surface mining electrical experience;
Electrical Journeyman certification;
MSHA Electrical certification.
