Aker Solutions' drilling technologies business in Horten is a world leading supplier of drilling equipment, compensation and tensioning systems for drilling rigs and drill ships. We need highly motivated individuals who can strengthen our team and support our ambitious growth plans within the deepwater drilling market.
Responsibilities and tasks
We are looking for a structural engineer.
• Global and detail strength calculations of steel structures in equipment for drilling and pipe handling.
• Use of Staad Pro for beam and element modelling and Abaqus for element modelling.
• Hand calculations by use of basic formulas for preliminary calculations
• Follow up third party approval from DNV (Det Norske Veritas) and ABS (American Bureau of Shipping)
• Advise mechanical engineers in structure issues.
Qualifications & personal attributes
• MSc or PhD
• Ability to see the load path through a structure without calculations
• Knowledge of relevant regulations is preferred (DNV, ABS, Eurocode 3)
• Senior engineers with more than five years of relevant experience.
• Good communication and co-operation skills
• Ability to work independently as well as be a team player
• Able to transfer theoretical solutions into practical solutions for manufacturing.
•Excellent Norwegian and English language skills both written and verbal
