Job Title:                                Maintenance Workshop Lead Hand Reports To:                           Maintenance Workshop Supervisor Location:                                Pueblo Viejo Site   Position Overview: This is a hands on, Leading Hand role directly involved in the repair of process plant components in a well appointed repair and rebuild workshop facility. The position involves  the mechanical disassembly, inspection,  repair , reassembly and testing of components in our workshop, including process plant gearbox transmissions, pumps, bearing assemblies, large mechanical seals Candidates must be proficient in the use of manual lathes, milling machines, radial drilling machines and general machine shop activities and would also require some well developed exposure to component rebuild in a process plant or petro chemical environment. Exposure to exotic metals welding including titanium, super duplex stainless, zirconium etc would also be highly regarded.   Duties and Responsibilities - Operational Phase ·         Support a safe, efficient and effective work culture focused on continuous improvement and achievement. ·         Maintain the 5S program on the shop floor ·         Lead daily morning toolbox meetings. ·         Ensure plant and equipment are maintained and operated in accordance with the PVDC required codes and standards, including boilers, compressors, and overhead cranes. ·         Carry out tasks as directed by the supervisor, in a safe and efficient manner. ·         Contribute to skills development by actively imparting knowledge to, and providing on-the-job training of trainees. ·         Ensures that worker time sheets are properly filled out and submitted daily ·         Maintain high standards of work execution, safety and housekeeping. ·         Lead the teardown, inspection, record component failure analysis, and determine the most cost effective repair of gearbox/pump, right through to a complete overhaul of the equipment. ·         Examine and record failures such as pitting, overload, misalignment, fatigue   Supervisory Requirements: Trainees and assistants.   Key Competency Areas: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:   ·         Teamwork - Balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team. ·         Business Acumen - Understands business implications of decisions; demonstrates knowledge of industry practice in HR programs; aligns work with strategic goals. ·         Strategic Thinking - Develops strategies to achieve organizational goals; understands organization's strengths & weaknesses; identifies external threats and opportunities; adapts strategy to changing conditions. ·         Judgment - Displays willingness to make decisions; exhibits sound and accurate judgment; supports and explains reasoning for decisions; includes appropriate people in decision-making process; makes timely decisions. ·         Motivation - Sets and achieves challenging goals; demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles; measures self against standard of excellence. ·         Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives; organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; develops realistic action plans. ·         Professionalism - Approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments. ·         Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality. ·         Leadership – ensure team is focused on delivering results and have appropriate direction to advance Barrick’s goals; well-honed influencing skills, and the ability to produce results through influence.     Qualifications:  

Education

Completion of a certified program of competence in Mechanical Machining / Mechanical Millwright from a government recognized institution.   Experience 4+ years of lead hand experience in maintenance, rebuilding, and machining small to large rotating industrial machinery in an industrial workshop.     Skills & Abilities   ·         Knowledge of fitting gears, shafts, large bearings, seals, fitting tools, reading drawings, weld repair, and re machining, ·         Use of heat, liquid nitrogen and hydraulics to remove/assemble precision rotating components. ·         Proven technical skills and ability in a combination of component repair and rebuild of gearboxes; valves, shafts, bearing assemblies, and general rebuild workshop activities. ·         Large centrifugal pumps, valves, gear reducers, conveyors, welding applications in titanium and duplex/super duplex stainless steel. ·         Maintenance of boilers, compressors, and overhead cranes highly regarded. ·         Able to read and understand high tolerance drawings, plans and diagrams. ·         Experienced in the safe, efficient and accurate use of manual lathes, milling machines, radial drills, grinders and associated machine shop equipment. ·          Proven ability in the usage of precision measuring tools and gauges. ·         Candidate must be able to consistently produce accurate and precise components to a high standard and finish using conventional machine shop tools. ·         Demonstrated skills include above average communication skills: able to speak, read, and write in Spanish; read English. ·         Bilingual Spanish/English
