Responsibilities: The Mining Engineer will be responsible for supplying mine planning support in order to facilitate execution of the long term business strategy. The candidate for this position will be accountable for all aspects related to mine planning throughout the entire long term process and will also be responsible for coordinating any other areas of work that have significant impact on mine planning. The candidate must also:
- Supervise short, medium and long term planning activities;
- Assess mine operation procedures and equipment in order to improve performance;
- Coordinate engineering operations with the mining teams, the surveyors, the geologists, the drilling and blasting teams and contractual teams;
- Ensure mining design;
- Develop plans, schedules, forecasts, reserves and budgets;
- Contribute to development of feasibility studies;
- Execute project planning (scope of work), stakeholder identification, budget preparation, activities scheduling, resources, manage teams and contract workers, approvals, work follow-up, preparation of reports, audit and corrective measures;
- Establish good relations with stakeholders for all input and output in the planning process;
- Ensure that all stakeholders are familiar with new plans, which they can access and which will help them achieve their results;
- Take part in projects to develop new tools and technologies for the benefit of the teams.
- An undergraduate or graduate university degree is required;
- Experience in business process improvement and organizational design will be considered to be an asset;
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years experience (Mining Engineer) in a similar position is required;
- Project management skills, financial management and cost control experience;
- Good knowledge of mining design and scheduling software;
- Technical experience and supervisor experience are required;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English.
