Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer
My client is a well renowned global leader and is well known all throughout the mining industry in Australia. They have experienced steady growth over the last number of years and are now in a stable position for further expansion. Due these expansion plans they now have an opportunity for a senior rock mechanics engineer.
 
The duties of the rock mechanics engineer include:

• Operations and planning reviews.
• Providing leadership to teams on consulting projects.
• Oversee and manage open pit and or underground mines including budgeting and quality control.
• Have the ability to make decisions and recommendations in the area of rock mechanics.
• Be able to maintain effective client relationships and generate consulting business within the mining sector.

 
Ideally the rock mechanic engineer should possess:

• Degree qualification engineering or related discipline, post grad qualified candidates in rock mechanics or geotechnical engineering.
• Strong slope stability & slope design skills.
• Professionally registered engineer.
• Experience with soft rocks, core logging and drill management.
• Beneficial to have Slide, Flac 2D and UDEC software skills.
• Team player who can also work autonomously.
• Report writing and problem solving ability.
• Mine site experience would be highly regarded.
• Experience in a senior engineer or consulting role.
• Proven track record and technical expertise.
• Minimum of 8 years experience in coal mining.
