Underground Chief Geologist | Democratic Republic of Congo | $140,000 (USD) + Excellent benefits

Williams Mining are pleased to be engaged by one of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) leading mining companies. Our client is seeking an Underground Chief Geologist for a 2 year fixed term contract. You will be offered a flexible roster rotation of 7 weeks-on/ 3 weeks-off.

Ideally my client would prefer the successful appointment to speak French or have an intermediate understanding of French.

The appointed Underground Chief Geologist will lead and supervise the mine’s underground’s geological team as well as external contractors.

EXPERIENCE:

• Have team management experience as well as personal leadership qualities
• Be pro-active in all aspects of operational safety
• Good written and oral communications skills in both French and English
• At least 8 years industrial experience of which at least 2 years should be in an underground mine

THE ROLE:

• Execution and review of drilling plans to obtain the best possible results
• Analysis and interpretation of underground geological mapping, modeling and sampling
• Management of drilling projects to maximize the identification of mineral resources for the mine
• Ensure quality assurance and quality control are implementated throughout the exploration process (including data validation)
• Responsible for Gold accounting, Ore flow and Gold reconciliation
• Management of budgets and costs to obtain best results with less spending
• Build capacity of the team members to improve efficiency and results
• Ensure team members are working in safe conditions at all time to minimize risks

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BSc (Honours) degree or equivalent in Geology.
• Familiarity with instruments/softwares such as Total stations, Data recorder, Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine and/or any similar mining software.

This opportunity requires an experienced Chief Geologist with Underground experience within Gold , who has worked extensively in the African mining with a proven track record.
