An opportunity exists for a Senior Mine Geologist within the George Fisher Mine Geology department. Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, you will be responsible for the management of the resources in the Core Shed to achieve excellent service delivery to the Geology Department. This includes, amongst others, ensuring that contract loggers are sourced and Core Shed activities are managed in a manner that supports operational needs. It also requires that all drill hole information, used to ensure optimal interpretation, modelling, planning and exploitation of multiple ore bodies, is logged and captured in the database in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.

This residential role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work as part of a large, multidisciplinary geological team. The ore bodies at George Fisher Mine are part of a large, structurally complex, stratiform lead, zinc and silver deposit. Operational and production capabilities are currently in an expansionary phase and excellent opportunities for career development exist for a suitably qualified geologist. George Fisher has an underground Resource in excess of 180Mt and a mine life of more than18 years at current rates.

As a tertiary qualified geologist with 5-7 years of relevant experience, you will have the ability to initiate, plan, control and deliver a variety of operational and project tasks in an accurate and timely manner. This position will require you to work in a multi disciplinary, high volume, highly interactive production environment, and as such, well developed interpersonal and communication skills are essential. A working knowledge of MineSight or a similar geological modelling & mine planning software system and a sound understanding of database management will also be considered as an advantage.
