Maersk Oil Qatar AS is the leading oil producer offshore Qatar and a recognized pioneer in oil development and production techniques. On the basis of an Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) signed in 1992 with Qatar Petroleum, Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) is the sole operator of the Al Shaheen Field and recently completed one of the largest oil industry projects in the world with capital investments of approx. 6 billion USD, called FDP 2005, comprising the drilling of more than 160 additional production and water injection wells. The current oil production from the Al Shaheen Field is approx. 300,000 barrels/day.

The team

The successful candidate will join a highly motivated asset team consisting of subsurface specialist within reservoir engineering, geology, petrophysics and production technology. The team is responsible for well and reservoir management activities covering close to 100 extended reach horizontal production and injection wells.

The position

The Lead Reservoir Engineer is responsible for:

• ·         Coordinating and supervising reservoir engineering activities in the asset team
• ·         Individual technical contributions typically on a project basis (e.g. workover and intervention proposals, reserves reporting)
• ·         Contributing to integration between the subsurface disciplines within the team

Knowledge and skills

Effective team player with strong technical focus and analytical abilities who thrives in an inter-disciplinary environment. Proficient in:

• ·         General well and reservoir management
• ·         Opportunity identification, maturation and close-out covering individual wells and pattern scale evaluation of development scenarios and concepts.
• ·         Black oil reservoir simulation - preferably Eclipse and related software
• ·         Nodal Analysis - preferably PETEX software
• ·         Pressure transient analysis  - preferably Kappa software
• ·         Fluent written and spoken English

Education

M.Sc. petroleum engineering, chemical engineering or other science discipline

Experience

10-15 years of industry relevant subsurface experience, preferably with other operating companies.
