Maersk Oil Qatar AS is the leading oil producer offshore Qatar and a recognized pioneer in oil development and production techniques. On the basis of an Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) signed in 1992 with Qatar Petroleum, Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) is the sole operator of the Al Shaheen field.

The current oil production from the Al Shaheen field is approximately 300,000 barrels per day from nine different locations and is exported via two main offshore facilities.

Role Purpose

The Petrophysicist will be part of a small, dynamic Petrophysical group, which is an international and expanding  team. Together with the Geoscience, Reservoir Engineering, EOR and the Production Technology sections in PED, and colleagues from the Drilling, Production and Engineering departments, the team is working on making the Al Shaheen Field and the new FDP project a success.

Key Accountabilities / Activities

• Planning, execution, geosteering and evaluation of horizontal production and injection wells
• Planning, execution, evaluation of pipe-conveyed wireline logging, mainly formation pressures, PVT quality sampling and occasionally NMR logs in conjunction with other PED staff. Formation pressure with simultaneous employment of well technology.
• Free Water Level modeling, prediction and analyses for steering and reserves estimation
• Conventional and special core analysis programs
• End of Well Reporting Procedures, including ensuring proper data archive & distribution
• Assistance to Geological staff in developing / refining sequence stratigraphic based 3D reservoir models
• LWD & wireline contract management and support in conjunction with the drilling dept
• Training and coaching of less experienced staff.

Education /

Certifications

• Geoscience, Engineering or physics degree and have minimum three to seven years of relevant reservoir/production/exploration petrophysical experience with either internationally recognized service companies or operating energy companies

  Experience

• Have a solid background in the operational aspects of well construction from a Petrophysics, Geological and / or Engineering perspective
• Enjoy working in a dynamic, busy operational environment, empowered in multi-disciplinary teams
• Be a good team player and a “fast runner” capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously
• Have a strong analytical focus and communication skills
