Our client, a gold mining, development, finance and exploration company, is looking for a Vice President Exploration. This position will be responsible for managing all exploration activities, ranging from identification and acquisition of new projects to the management of advanced exploration projects. The VP is responsible for providing the intellectual support, guidance and coaching to various exploration teams in diverse geological and geographical environments, and acts as the senior advisor in areas such as reconnaissance surveys, mapping, geochemistry, geophysics, data interpretation, target generation, drilling and resource/reserve calculations.
Requirements include:
• A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible exploration experience in the metals mining industry, preferably in gold mining operations. Direct involvement with similar operations/projects with five or more years of experience in an exploration management position is required.
• Degree qualified in geology, mining engineering, geological engineering or related fields. An advanced degree is desired. A field geologist that can work effectively in a corporate environment and win the confidence of the Board, Bankers, Analysts and Investors.
• Proven knowledge of property evaluations, ore models, resource modeling, reserve definition, mining and metallurgical technology. Understanding of mining legislation, legal and regulatory requirements and joint venture management agreements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write reports and business correspondence and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and the general public.
• Ability to manage and interact with people in diverse cultures. Experience in a French Canadian culture will be an attribute.
