Join Barrick! Barrick is headquartered in Toronto, Canada and has 25 mining operations with many advanced exploration projects located across 5 continents and a large number of tenements located on some of the most prolific and prospective mineral trends.  Barrick’s Global  head office located in Toronto, Ontario Canada Barrick currently has an opening for a Senior Open Pit Manager, Mining within ourOperations Support Department. This position is to provide operating and technical support to regions and sites in optimization of mine design to meet safety and production targets while providing corporate governance in mine planning, budgeting, reserve generation, and reporting.The major responsibilities for this role include: 

  • Provide support to operations and projects in areas of mine design, mine planning, equipment selection, cost analysis and implementation of best practices.
  • Lead a small team of open pit engineering specialists, within the Corporate Operations Support Group.
  • Assist regions and sites with preparation of reserves, budgets, LOM plans by communicating corporate direction and conducting peer reviews.
  • Assist with the development of strategies for improving efficiencies and reducing operational mining costs.
  • Lead the development of corporate global standards.
  • Manage or review projects studies and economic analysis to support current operations or new projects.
  • Seek and investigate technologies / systems that can improve our operations in the future.
  • Report on Compliance, critical issues and business improvement strategies.

  The successful candidate should posses:
Strategy skills 
• Familiar with trends in mining processes/associated outcomes from a business/technical view 
• Understanding of best practice in providing the best solution in mining processes and systems 

Work Knowledge:·      Significant mine engineering and operations experience·       Engineering and/or production supervisory experience·       Open pit mine design and planning experience·       Knowledge of open pit mining technology·       Experience in developing and mentoring engineers·       Demonstrated success as an effective leader.
Education / experience 
•
 Bachelors Degree in Mining Engineering
