Mine Planning Engineer, Open Pit Central Asia

Reports to: Mine Manager
Our client is a growth-oriented Canadian-based gold mining and exploration company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development and operation of gold properties in Central Asia, the former Soviet Union and other emerging markets. Their objective is to build shareholder value and to establish themselves as a senior gold producer by maximizing the potential of our current properties and leveraging our financial strength and experience to acquire new long-life, low-cost projects.
The Pit Planning Engineer will be responsible for timely, innovative short term mine planning support to successfully implement and meet the long term LOM planning objectives.
Responsibilities shall include.
Ensuring best practice throughout the mining engineering discipline, including:
Short term mine planning
Prepare weekly and monthly production plans for implementation by the Mine Operations team.
Preparation of management reports and production statistics.
Evaluate all potential solutions to short term planning issues and develop plans to overcome these challenges
Support pit engineering functions (drill and blast design, survey, ore control and dispatch system)
The ideal candidate will have:
Mining Engineering or related degree.
A minimum of 5-8 years experience in mining engineering with a minimum of 3 years recent Open Pit experience.
Good computer skills together with a working knowledge of mining software programs.
Well developed inter-personal skills with an aptitude for leadership and training.
Prior experience in a FSU country, or other expatriate environment, would be advantageous.
Ability to speak Russian will be advantageous.
Medically able to work high altitude.
