Barrick is a leading international gold mining company, with a portfolio of 27 operating mines and seven advanced exploration and development projects, located across five continents. Lumwana Mining Company is wholly owned by Barrick Gold Corporation and operates one of the largest new copper mines to be developed globally over the last decade. The mine is seeking an experienced and proactive Business Improvement Manager to support the Lumwana Mine and drive the development of the North-western Province to be a destination of choice to live and a benchmark for urban development in Zambia. The position reports to the Managing Director, working on a 6/3 weeks roster on rotation or a residential.  Responsibilities: 

• Develop and implement the BI team’s strategy to deliver long term financial benefits to Lumwana. Support and develop site strategic planning processes.
• Coordinate and Support BI activities and projects site wide to ensure strategies, tactics and methodologies are consistent and are complaint to Barrick BI Standards.
• Coach site management and improvement teams as required in the use of the CI framework, strategy, tools and methodologies.
• Ensure a succession  plan is in place for the BI organisation at Lumwana
• Training mentoring and support  to be provided to all team members
• Coordinate the execution of the BI training programs to acquire relevant competencies and resources to match site requirements.
• Organise monthly BI reporting and communications to include project progress, process maturation and implementation tactics to all stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Tertiary Qualifications in a business-related or Mining / Metallurgical/Surveying/Engineering discipline
• Significant (10+yrs) experience in a mining environment demonstrating proven experience leading and implementing continuous improvement projects.
• At least 5 years in a business analysis, systems improvement environment with proven experience in MOS Lean or 6 Sigma principles;
• Demonstrated experience in managing change within large organisations;
• Experience in managing a team to deliver agreed outputs;
• Computer literate, with a high level of Microsoft software skills
• Ability to lead and facilitate open facilitation to implement change
• Strong project management skills
