Overview:

First Quantum Minerals is a growing mining and metals company engaged in mineral exploration, development and mining, and is fast evolving into a globally diversified metals organisation.

Excitingly, FQM now operates the Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation (RNO), situated approximately 550 kilometres southeast of Perth, Western Australia. The project's three Nickel-laterite deposits are estimated to contain sufficient reserves and resources to support a mine life of more than 30 years. 

FQM Australia Nickel is seeking an experienced Mine Planner with sound experience in running open-cut mining operations. The dynamic culture within the Ravensthorpe team will provide you with the opportunity to apply your existing skills and exercise your initiative to further progress your career.

    Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage mine planning services.
• Manage, mentor and develop the mine engineering, geology and surveying teams.
• Liaise with the Geology team to ensure grade control data is utilised and reconciled against all operational planning tasks.
• Work closely with the Technical Superintendent to ensure feed quality of ore is fully recognised.
• Ensure that the Mine Surveyor prepares and maintains all suitable plans to satisfy all safety, legislated and operational requirements.
• Ensure all drill and blast plans adhere to industry standards and ensure all blast patterns are created as planned; and reconciled as necessary.

    Qualifications:

• Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering.

    Experience:

• Extensive Mining experience
• Knowledge of exploration methods, resource estimation, mine design, production scheduling, equipment selection, reserve estimation, maintenance development and expert systems.
• Experience in Project Evaluation and Financial Analysis.
• High level of competence in the use of mine planning software.

This is a residential position on a 5/2 roster based in Hopetoun, one of the most beautiful regions of Western Australia. With a small close-knit community, Hopetoun and neighboring Ravensthorpe are prosperous towns with modern amenities.
