The Sepon Copper operation in Laos produces approximately 80,000 tonnes of Copper and approximately 70,000oz of Gold annually.

Reporting to the Superintendent Resource the purpose of the Senior Resource Geologist role is to collate and analyse geological data and provide interpretation, estimation, reconciliation and documentation of project outcomes in order to maximise ore delineation and recovery whilst minimising dilution through effective management.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Facilitate acurate and timely geological information for the use in engineering designs for current and future mining areas
• Provide training and mentoring to Lao staff in the various tasks undertaken
• Designing, scheduling and implementing drilling programs
• Provide models and quantified estimates to Mining department
• Accurate and timely estimation through block modelling and drill data
• Assist with financial tracking for department activities and project
• Ensuring grade of material being sent to the mill matches specified requirement
• Generate relevant reports and documents on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
• Provide designs and planning for the various roles and tasks carried out by geological staff includes drilling, modelling, and supervision works
• Supervise the Geology Department personnel and contractors in their day to day activities
• Ensure that all team personnel are available for technical and SHEC training as appropriate to their roles
• Training and mentoring subordinates in line with succession and localisation plans

To be successful in this role you must possess:

• Degree in Geology
• Extensive experience in an mining environment operating at senior geologist level, with a good record success in metaliferous mines
• Exposure to open pit operations with a strong knowledge in mining industry best practice with a geology focus
• Resource &/or grade control model experience
• Budgeting and cost management experience
• An understanding of mining production processes
• Team focused, working to achieve best practice results in all endeavours
• Strong planning ability
• Ability to focus on both short and long term objectives
• Ability to effectively prioritise and appropriately delegate tasks

Located near the gateway to South East Asia, this position allows for exploration of this fascinating region whilst on R&R. The attractive 24/18 roster provides travel to and from your home base. Onsite accommodation facilities are provided, including a gym and sporting facilities.
