Maersk Oil Qatar is looking for a newly graduated geologist and geophysicist to join the teams working with our Qatar Assets and on international oil and gas activities. The positions as MITAS Geoscientists provide many exciting challenges and include a comprehensive introductory training programme.

MITAS Programme

The MITAS programme is an intense 2-year training and working period for our future technical leaders and experts, in which you will undergo three rotations of eight months each. There are possibilities for rotating to other business units within the worldwide A.P. Moller-Maersk Group. In each rotation, you will be affiliated to a new department and work with new tasks. The goal is that you gain a wide understanding of the fundamentals of process engineering and project management at various stages of the energy value chain to enable you to choose the right direction of your future career.

MITAS Training

The MITAS programme combines learning on the job with technical courses and general skills development within the MITAS framework. Together with other MITAS participants from other departments and business units you will participate in courses covering a range of subjects from fundamentals of engineering in the oil and gas industry through to project management and safety.

Exciting technical challenges

The job is a challenging mixture of studies and operational work, where you build on your technical and scientific knowledge, as well as on your personal skills. Important parts of the job are geological mapping, interpretation of seismic data, well logs and core data, as well as construction of 3D geological models for use in production development planning. The study work alternates with drilling assignments offshore on drilling rigs and onshore as supervisor.

Comprehensive training programme

You will be enrolled in the MITAS graduate programme and offered courses within a spectrum of relevant fields, including petroleum geology, petrophysics, geophysics, sedimentology, structural geology, basin analysis and reservoir management. Alongside this, the MITAS programme provides training in project and process management, economics, commercial understanding of the energy and transportation sector, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Qualifications

We look for candidates with a minimum B.Sc. degree in Geology or Geophysics and a high professional level. A postgraduate qualification, M.Sc. of Ph.D, would be an advantage.  Personal efficiency, creativity and good communication and teamwork skills are essential qualifications. Proficiency in spoken and written English is a requirement.
