Position Description

We currently have an opportunity at our Wilpinjong mine for an open cut Mine Geologist . Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Site Geologist will provide essential coal resource exploration, assessment and evaluation services, covering geology, geotechnics and will assist the Site Coal Quality Engineer within the open cut operations as required.

Specific responsibilities include :

Develop geological models to define the resources and reserves to provide an accurate basis for the development of mining models and plans;
Plan drilling programs, prepare and manage geological input into business plans;
Conduct accurate evaluation work to define the coal resource;
Manage the geological database to ensure integrity and security of data, and availability and reliability of the system;
Assist in budgeting and forecasting process;
Develop and deliver geological and exploration reports as required in a timely and accurate manner;
You will possess appropriate tertiary qualifications, and a minimum of three years experience as a site based geologist, ideally in an open cut coal operation.

You will have a demonstrated understanding and experience with field-based exploration programs, management of geological databases, geological assessment and modelling and skills with mine planning computer-based systems.
