  Do you want to lead a Geophysics team in exploring for Uranium? Look at AREVA!   We are seeking a Chief Geophysicist to join our Exploration team based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Reporting to the Vice President, Exploration, this position will be responsible for leading the Geophysicist team in the development, implementation, interpretation, and reporting of geophysical survey results. Duties and responsibilities will also include, but will not be limited to:

  • Assisting in exploration planning with the Vice President, Exploration and the District Geologists by acting as an in‑house consultant when both short and long‑term plans involving the use of geophysics are being developed for specific projects;
  • Evaluating and advancing current geophysical exploration methods in use and recommending improvements as applicable;
  • Monitoring industry wide development of new or special geophysical techniques and evaluating their potential application; 
  • Proposing research and development projects to improve the effectiveness of geophysical techniques;
  • Supervision of borehole logging operations and status of the associated equipment with the assistance of the Technician, Exploration Services, as well as monitoring industry wide development of new or special probing techniques and evaluating their potential application;
  • Advising the Vice President, Operations on geophysics as it relates to health, safety, or decommissioning at planned and existing mine operations.
  • Ensuring that the Geophysics team is complying with the Company's IQMS procedures, health, safety, and radiation protection standards, environmental policies, and adherence to the Company's Values Charter.

Qualifications

 All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. 

  • University graduate in geophysics (and geology preferred), combined with a minimum of 15 to 20 years experience in geophysics applied to mineral exploration.  Experience in uranium exploration is a definite asset; a post graduate degree is also an asset.
  • Good working knowledge and application of Microsoft Office Suite programs and geophysical software;
  • Must have previous experience in team management and supervision in advanced and complex situations.
