Hecla mines, processes and explores for silver, gold, lead and zinc in the U.S. and Mexico. Hecla currently produces silver from two underground mines, Lucky Friday in Idaho’s scenic Silver Valley and Greens Creek near Juneau in beautiful Southeast Alaska. In 2010 Hecla produced over 10.5 million
ounces of silver, along with gold, lead and zinc. In addition to mine site exploration, Hecla has three major exploration projects, Silver Valley in northern Idaho, San Juan Silver Joint Venture in Creede, Colorado, and San Sebastian in Durango, Mexico. long-life, low-cost mines; four district-sized land positions with organic growth opportunities; and an excellent cash position with no debt.
Hecla has a current opportunity in the Silver Valley of Northern Idaho for a geologist with extensive precious metals experience in exploration and production geology. Qualified candidates will have 10+ years of related experience and possess the necessary skills to integrate historic surface and underground exploration and mining data to develop and advance exploration targets to resource.
Experience in the Coeur d’ Alene Mining District is a plus.
Candidates must be computer literate with knowledge of computer programs such as MineSight, ESRI and AutoCAD. Considerable experience in management of diamond drilling programs, data compilation and interpretation, management of geological databases, planning and budgeting, and executing projects
of a regional scope through to feasibility is required. Underground experience and MSHA certification is a plus. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential to ensure consistently superior work. This role requires a well-organized, high energy individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The candidate should also have excellent knowledge and understanding of precious metal ore deposits.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline. In addition to 10+ years of related experience the candidate will have a proven track record of moving properties forward towards feasibility and advanced development.
