Job Summary:
Anadarko Petroleum Corporation is looking for a database administrator to assist with production support of its enterprise relational database environment. This position requires extensive knowledge of Oracle and MS SQL Server database management technologies. This position will participate in a team environment providing production support and after hour’s problem resolution of our extensive database enterprise. This position will interface closely with the business application community as well as storage and server technology groups. These interactions will require good inter-personal and communication skills.

Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will have a mimimum of eight (8) years experience with production support of an enterprise relational database environment including active Oracle database administration and active MS SQL Server administration.
- Experience handling DBA activities within Solaris (UNIX) or Linux environment.
- Performance tuning from DB Instance and SQL perspective.

Additional preferred qualifications include:
- Oil and Gas applications experience
- Experience with ‘NetApp storage’ solutions or other NFS protocols.
- Experience OEM installation/administration
- Scripting experience in KSH/BASH in Solaris/Linux
- Development experience in MS .NET (ASP and C#), PowerShell or APEX
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and issue resolution skills,

Responsibilities:
- Normal and customary DBA functions.
- Assist business application support community with database related application availability/performance and optimization
- Responsible for refreshing test environments, assisting with troubleshooting of application upgrades/patches
- Work with other infrastructure teams to integrate and optimize performance of our database environment and insure data integrity and access.
- Actively participate in efforts to streamline and automate DBA activities.
- Responsible for managing and troubleshooting Oracle and MS SQl Server version upgrades and minor patching
- Assist with setting architectural direction for APC Database environment; formulate and implement proof of concept environments to validate hardware and /software enhancements.
- Conduct regularly scheduled project update sessions with business support groups
- Mentor other less experienced members of DBA team with open transfer of knowledge, Pursue opportunities to conduct ‘Business analyst’ targeted training regarding data access and performance approaches.

Education:
High School/GED requried; Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or Computer Science from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is preferred.

Licenses/Certification:
Leadership experience and formalized project management certification preferred

Travel:
Minimal travel required. 5-10%

Work Schedule:
This position is eligible for the 9/80 work schedule.
