POSITION: Lead / Senior Drilling Engineer
ORGANIZATION: Maersk Oil Angola
REPORTS TO: Drilling Engineering Manager
ROLE:
Provides overall engineering ando perations support with overall responsibility for optimising well planning, costing and operations for one or more rigs and ensuring the technical and safety integrity of wells drilled offshore Angola. The position will be based onshore in Luanda, Angola.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the key functions in the Well Delivery Process.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of cost estimating and cost tracking tools.
- Preparation of cost estimates.
- Provide comprehensive deepwater drilling engineering design and analysis including torque and drag, hydraulics, hole cleaning, anti-collision management, well control and casing design.
- Mentor Drilling Engineers.
- Lead and document well and operations risk assessments and DWOPs.
- Prepare technicalspecifications and evaluations during the procurement process.
- Liaise and effectively communicate with the global subsurface and project teams.
- Evaluate equipment, services, processes and technology to enhance drilling performance.
- Lead the after action review system, section reviews and incorporation of lessons learned to enhance learning efficiency of the organization.
- Maintain drilling documentation, data and benchmarking systems.
- Lead in the implementation of new technology.
- Implementation of additional processes and procedures applicable to deepwater drilling operations in Angola.
- Network across Maersk Oil and the industry for all aspects of deepwater Drilling.
SPECIFICPROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
- Block 16 Chissonga Development, Maersk Oil’s first deepwater development.
- Angola exploration, appraisal and development projects in multiple Offshore Angola E&P Blocks.
QUALIFICATIONSAND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of ten years Drilling Engineering experience.
- Ability to work independently with a small measure of supervision.
- Proficient in Drilling Engineering principles and software applications.
- Strong analytical and technical skills.
- Good organizational skills to complete assignments withvarying degrees of complexity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with the various Maersk Oil and External stake holdersthat are located though out the world.
- Deepwater operational experience will be an asset.
- Must be a team player.
- High quality standards and a sense of urgency will be extremely beneficial.
