To match the needs of our rapidly expanding global customer base, we are seeking the following position in North America regional office in Tucson, Arizona: Project Engineer
In this critical, customer-facing role, you will install, customize and support Modular's products at mines throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Colombia. You will work on specialized projects that involve a number of software applications, the hardware they run on, their interactions with each other and the network infrastructure that ties them all together.
The ideal applicant is someone with a wide exposure to a variety of technologies, who has a background in a variety of programming/scripting languages and operating systems, who experiments with and plays with technology in their own time. The products deployed by and supported by this group are quite varied, people comfortable switching between programming, server setup, SQL queries and wireless networking (among other technologies) will be at home here.

Requirements
Education:
BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
Skills:
• Strong base of Computer Science skills and passion for technology and learning are a must. This is a fast paced, challenging role with potential for travel. Strong analytical skills and problem solving are required. Interpersonal skills are also very important as you will have customer interaction.
• Be able to demonstrate skill in at least one high-level programming language such as C, C++, Java, Perl, etc.
• Familiarity with Linux, comfortable with command line and shell tools
Additional skills that will be given special consideration:
v Web development and administration, Ruby, PHP, etc
v Familiar with VMWare
v Working knowledge of TCP/IP and network routing
v Experience with MS SQL administration, query writing and report writing.
v Linux / UNIX administration, installation and configuration
v Fluent in Spanish a plus
Other Requirements:
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Ability to work outside and climb ladders
• Must be able to travel 25% minimum out of the year (100% reimbursed)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
