Role synopsisBP Exploration is looking to recruit two Rig Design Engineers within the Global Wells Organisation. The role will be part of the central Rig Engineering team with one located in Houston (USA) and one in Sunbury on Thames (UK). The successful candidate will report to the BP Rig Design Manager.
Key roles will include:
The successful candidate will support the Rig Design Manager and the Rig Lead Engineers in the development, deployment and maintenance of the BP standards for rig design. The focus will be to ensure safe design, quality build of rigs and for the rigs to deliver safe and compliant well operations.Key accountabilities- Generation of a global BP Rig Design Guidelines related to the operations & maintenance philosophy and the rig systems specifications

- Ensure that global guidelines comply with GWO OMS requirements

- Support implementation of the BP Rig Design Guidelines standards in projects during the rig concept selection, detailed design, equipment delivery, build, commissioning & handover to Regional GWO team

- Provide verification to the BP Rig Design Manager that standards are being complied with in the areas of Rig design and build

- Capture learning from Global Well Organisation (GWO) and Global Project Organisation (GPO) to drive learning and continuous improvements in rig design and operations back in to the BP Rig Design Guidelines

- Identify technology improvements and how they can be used to improve BP standards in rig design and major equipmentEssential EducationBSc in Science, Technology or EngineeringEssential experience and job requirementsDemonstrated experience with a good knowledge of rig design and major drilling equipment.Other essential skills and knowledgeUnderstanding of Drilling Operations and Project Management techniques.
