Sr. Manager, Global Maintenance

Barrick Gold is seeking an experienced, proactive and self-motivated Senior Manager of Global Maintenance for our Corporate Head Office in Toronto. Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Maintenance, the Senior Manager of Maintenance will be responsible for developing and implementing maintenance and reliability strategies that will align with the corporate strategic plan and support the regional and site business plans.
 
Key responsibilities:

• Direct a team of maintenance professionals and associates skilled in maintenance and business improvement techniques and procedures including oversight of processes, associated performance evaluations and disciplinary measures as and when required.
• Oversee and support to the mines on maintenance and supply chain business improvement initiatives for the region.
• Act as Project Manager for key operational initiatives that require the expertise of a technical/engineering skill set.
• Develop business systems and re-engineering of company-wide maintenance systems & processes to ensure goals and objectives as outlined in the Strategic plan are met.
• Lead and provide oversight to the annual operations review process, with broad business-wide scope.
• Focus on the long term needs, opportunities and assist in developing the overall maintenance strategic planning process.
• Education and Development of Business Performance Management systems and standards.
• Ensure that the Barrick business systems and processes continuously evolve to incorporate learning’s from internal and external sources through active benchmarking.
• Educate management and staff improvement teams in defect elimination tools and techniques that will be used to realize asset performance improvement results.
• Support the effective deployment of tools and techniques across all Barrick sites.
• Create and maintain the annual budget for the regional maintenance function.  Track performance, adjust staffing plans, capital and operating expenses to meet or exceed budget goals.
• Oversee the hiring, training and development of maintenance Managers, Supervisors and staff within the Regions.
• Define success for maintenance, decide metrics to be tracked, set goals and monitor results.
 
Requirements:
 
• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent certification required.
• Extensive management exposure and experience within the resources industry- approximately 10+ years of related experience. (mining experience will be highly regarded)
• Experience with business re-engineering and application of Continuous Improvement tools will also be highly regarded.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively influence all levels of employees and wide spread teams within a matrix organization is essential
• Demonstrated achievements in a senior role.
• Exhibit strong leadership skills with the ability to engage with co-workers, management and external customers.
• Ability to exercise effective judgment and apply new knowledge to changing needs within the organization.
• Computing skills to include MS Office Suite, MS Project.
 
The role is Toronto-based with approximately 40% travel expected across the 5 continents where Barrick operates.
