POSITION DESCRIPTION AREVA Federal Services LLC, a subsidiary of AREVA, is seeking a Pipe Support Engineer. Pipe Support Engineer has responsibility for Design of Piping, Raceway, & HVAC Duct (Commodity) Supports. A commodity support is a seismic load carrying structure that transfers loads from the Piping, Electrical Raceway or HVAC Duct to the building structure. Components to be qualified include Attachments (means of restraining the commodity), structural frame members and Base Plates or Embed Plates using computerized structural analysis programs including STAAD. Responsiblities include coordination of efforts with other seismic support engineers performing similar work and design coordination with other design disciplines by review of the model representation of the designs in Plant Design System (PDS) and development of qualified support designs prepared by Support Modeler. COMPANY DESCRIPTION Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC is a consortium of companies based in Aiken, SC and formed to advance the Department of Energy's mission to dispose of surplus weapon grade plutonium. The plutonium is disposed of by mixing it with uranium and forming a mixed oxide (MOX) fuel for use in existing nuclear reactors. After the MOX fuel is irradiated in the reactor, the plutonium can no longer be used for nuclear weapons. AREVA Federal Services provides resources to MOX Services for the design, construction, licensing and operations of the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) to be built at the Savannah River Site. Resources provided are in the following disciplines: Licensing, ES&H, Integrated Safety Analysis, QA, Engineering Assurance, Process Engineering, Systems Engineering, Design and Engineering (Structural, Electrical, I &C, Seismic, Nuclear Criticality, Piping, Mechanical, HVAC), Project Safety, Procurement, Project Controls, Software Design, Training, Records Management, Operations, and Information Technology. All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
- Minimum 3+ years direct experience in design and analysis of commodity supports or similar steel design work.
- Bachelor of Science in Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of ANSI/AISC N690 Design Fab & Erection Safety Related Steel Structures or AISC Structural Steel Specification.
- Demonstrated experience with STAAD III Structural Analysis and Design or GT STRUDL required.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
- Experience with ANSYS and GTSTRUDL desirable, STAAD III very desirable.
