Position Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Ground Control / Projects Engineer, the incumbent will ensure the integrity of all mining geotechnical related infrastructures through inspection and evaluation.  The incumbent will also be required to develop, establish and maintain ground control strategies for both the short and long-range mining plans.

Specific Accountabilities:

• Investigate specific ground control problems with appropraite analysis and recommendations
• Conduct workplace audits to ensure that ground control procatices conform to standards
• Analyze stope extraction sequences through numerical modeling to optimize stope performance and ensure integrity of existing infrastructure
• Through appropriate instrumentation, monitor stability of mine workings and performance of support elements
• Supervise or carry out geotechnical projects when required

Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor of Mining Engineering
• Eligible for licensing with PEO
• Minimum 5 years related experience in an underground hard rock mining environment
• Experience with Acad (Amine) will be a definite asset
