Job description:

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities include: Supervision of assay lab technicians on a rotating 12 hour shift. Selected person must be able to perform all job functions on shift or be familiar with SOPs used in Cortez Assay Lab as well as maintaining Oracle medium user duties including; OTL entry and approval, manager self service, work requests/orders, move orders, updating employee training records and status upgrades. An understanding of bullion analyses in maintaining the Cortez Gold Standard policy including handling and security of pin samples and standards. Candidate must perform and review FLRA and document incidents in RIMS. Duties require knowledge of Labware LIMS including Status Action Rules, CGM_5 level function, assist in testing and implementing software upgrades and maintaining quality control procedures. Document data collection and entry for compliance with the laboratory’s Environmental Class I Air Quality Operating Permit. Review and assign assay lab priorities and personnel as required. Schedule all maintenance, resolve issues and inform maintenance of emergency work. Provide site specific training, make sure that shift pre-op and workplace inspections are comprehensive and competent, and ensure assay lab contractor training checklists are complete. Foremost, promote a safe working environment, procedures and culture.


SELECTION CRITERIA

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in analytical laboratory, or equivalent background preferred.
• Proficiency with laboratory sample preparation, fire assay, atomic absorption, Leco and XRF preferred.
• Knowledge of bullion fire assay and settlements preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on all analytical equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites required.
• Prior leadership role experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills—both oral and written required.
• Good planning and organizational skills required.
• Sound understanding of safety and environment requirements associated with an Assay lab required.
• Demonstrate good safety leadership through Courageous Leadership and Visible Felt Leadership and proven safe work record required.
