Barrick is a leading international gold mining company, with a portfolio of 27 operating mines, seven advanced exploration and development projects located across five continents, and a large land position on the world’s best exploration belts. Barrick operates the wholly owned Lawlers  Gold Mine located in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, approximately 120km north of Leonora.    Position Overview: The Senior Mine Surveyor is responsible for marking out, measuring, monitoring and defining the direction of all surface and underground workings at Lawlers and for the preparation and updating of mine plans. Principal duties will include:

•  Lay out and maintenance of survey reference marks underground for control of  drive development and stripping, stoping, service holes, rises and diamond drilling programs
• Regular surveys to control major underground features, for example decline dimensions, gradient and directions, stope drive levels and orientations, long hole and air leg stopes
• Assist the Mining Engineers in mine design and drawing of mine instructions for issue to the underground mining personnel
• Provision of accurate survey control network
• Survey of and computations for ore and waste volumes and stockpiles
• Provide accurate End of Month figures to Engineers and Geologists
• Mentor, train and develop Surveyors, Graduates and also Vacation students
• Coordinate contractors and visitors for projects onsite within the department

  The successful applicant must have the following qualifications and experience: 

• Diploma of Surveying or Bachelor Applied Science (Surveying)
• Authorised Mine Surveyor's Certificate of Competency Grade 1 issued by the WA Department of Industry and Resources
• Current C Class WA Drivers License
• Underground mine surveying experience
• Experience leading a team of surveyors
• Competent in the use of mine design software, preferably Surpac & Vulcan
• Experience in managing costs and budgeting.
• Preferred St John Senior First Aid Certificate
• Clear communication skills, ability to coordinate multiple tasks and projects
