Our client is a long standing player in the metals industry. With a strong history and stable future they are seeking a Senior Metallurgist to join their team based in Northern QLD close to the coast. In this role, you will build upon your CIP, leach and gravity experience, work and manage a team to optimise the plant.
Reporting to the Processing Manager, the Senior Metallurgist’s key responsibilities include:
Managing the metallurgy of the processing plant
Manage metallurgy employees from Junior to Senior levels
Provide technical support and input into the metallurgical operation
Optimising plant performance and review weekly and monthly plant performance reports
Identifying improvement opportunities and coordinate activities to realise these opportunities
Coordinate with mining to evaluate ore feeds to the processing plants.
Provide technical support to plant personnel
Coordinate metallurgical project work
Provide coaching and training to the metallurgy team
Drive the maintenance and metallurgy teams to achieve results
The successful candidate should possess the following:
Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering
Extensive experience in metallurgy , CIP, leach and gravity
5+ years of relevant experience in mineral processing
Self motivated and have strong interpersonal skills
Excellent staff management skills and experience
Capable of managing the plant and working back to back with the processing manager
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mineral processing and be able to apply their technical knowledge in this area. Strong interpersonal skills will be essential. Candidates who demonstrate initiative and pursue excellence in their work will be highly regarded.
