Plan, schedule, coordinate, and conduct research and engineering to optimize operating and production processes at a 12 Mtpa Cu/Au/Ag flotation processing plant in Northeastern Nevada. Essential job duties include:
- Monitor the metallurgical performance of circuits, equipment, processes, and plans to ensure optimization.
- Recognize process inefficiencies and engineer mechanical, chemical, or physical solutions for problem resolution.
- Work with process maintenance to achieve efficient process plant equipment/instrument performance and increased availability.
- Provide technical assistance to process operations to ensure optimum metallurgical performance of the process plant.
- Train plant operators and others in new practices or procedures in support of process operations.
- Participate in continuous improvement programs to assist in enhancing the performance and success of plant operation.
- Perform tests and investigations and prepare technical reports and recommendations to Management.
- Contribute to a high morale and high work ethic within the metallurgical department in support of the efforts of process operations and other departments at the facility in order to achieve operational success.
- Liaise with colleagues in Geology, Mine Engineering, Ore Control, Projects, and within other departments in support of the operation.
- Actively participate in inspections, meetings, training, and programs for Health, Safety, and the Environment and accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of co-workers and for the practice of Newmont’s Safety Principles.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, and suppliers in support of the operation.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting for projects and for process operations planning.
- Develop and execute plans and criteria for multiple projects which may have challenging coordination requirements.
- Schedule and coordinate the work of technicians to complete work on time and within budget.
- Comply with state and federal health and safety regulations, company policies and procedures, and the company's environmental compliance policy.

- 100% of time will be assigned to work within the processing plant.
- Work schedule includes an on-call rotation for weekend coverage.
- B.S. Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering plus experience in research, mineral processing, extractive metallurgy or hydrometallurgy and demonstrated capability in one or more of the following areas: comminution, copper flotation, gold hydrometallurgy (leaching, CIP/CIL, electrowinning, smelting), and Cu SX-EW.
- Experience in Mill Operations is strongly desired but not exclusive.
