Description and Desired Qualifications
CH2M HILL Entry Level Instrumentation & Controls Engineer Jobs – Gainesville, Florida
The challenge? Helping our clients accomplish their automation projects goals cost effectively, on time and with the top quality they have expected of CH2M HILL for over 70 years. As an Entry Level Instrumentation and Controls Engineer you have the opportunity to assist in delivering cutting edge automation services to our clients. You will be part of a team engaged in delivering some of the most exciting projects in the Southeast region. You should have strong technical skills, be a self-motivated professional, possess a Bachelors degree, and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each new project.
Our Entry Level Instrumentation & Controls Engineers:
- Prepare specifications and drawings, write control system descriptions, and perform field start up and commissioning activities for municipal facility control systems.
- Have a desire to learn industrial and municipal water/wastewater treatment, solid waste, and environmental remediation processes.
- Under minimal-to-general supervision, independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Work as part of a team on large, complex projects.
- Have a desire to learn how to design and utilize PLC control systems, SCADA Systems, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software to effectively design and implement instrumentation and control systems for large water/wastewater projects.
- Understand and implement communications systems such as Ethernet based local area networks and wireless radio systems.
- Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
- Drive ownership of health & safety in all aspects of project execution, office and personal environments.
Additional Information:

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
- 0-2 years of experience in PLC control systems, P&ID development, control system architecture development, SCADA systems, Networks, Security systems, DeviceNet, and power distribution systems
- EIT Certification
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with basic programming languages such as C/C++, Java, XML, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the basic qualifications, the following are highly desired:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
- 4 years of experience in PLC control systems, P&ID development, control system architecture development, SCADA systems, Networks, Security systems, DeviceNet, and power distribution systems
- Experience with HMI and PLC programming software
- Experience with MatLab and LabView software
