Barrick is headquartered in Toronto, Canada and has 26 mining operations with many advanced exploration projects located across 5 continents and a large number of land positions located on some of the most prolific and prospective mineral trends. The primary purpose of the Business Performance Manager - Exploration is to collate, analyse and report on Market and Competitor trends, and how they impact on Barrick; and manage the Strategic Planning Process for ABX Exploration. It will also require in depth knowledge and tracking of Barrick’s own exploration metrics.  Role includes: 

• Market and Competitor Analysis
• Strategic Planning for Exploration
• Exploration Metrics
• BXS records and tools owner

Key Responsibility Areas

• Exploration Industry Analysis: In depth analysis and commentary on discovery trends, rates, costs, types etc using in-house, public and commercial sources of information, and comparisons/impacts with Barrick
• Compilation and Analysis of reserve and resource data: Analyse in-house and competitor reserve/resource replacement including number of ounces, type of ounces, costs etc. Generally this will be in Q1 when most results are reported.
• Strategic Planning: for Exploration ABX
• Economic evaluation of key deposits: High level preliminary economic analysis of some key deposits (in situ or NPV). Use of Exploration Economic Template.
• Preparation of Monthly Global Trends Report: Succinct overview of exploration/market or competitor notable trends during the month (eg four companies changed their taxation and royalty rates during the month).
• Country investment review: As needed, country risk analysis to provide summary of country information and to help develop a longer term outlook on new and emerging regions.
• Assist in preparation of corporate presentations: As required help prepare and compile information to augment corporate exploration presentations. 

 Specific functional duties include: 

• Track competitor activities, strategies and results and provide analysis summary and potential impacts to Barrick
• Track industry trends and provide analysis and So What summary
• Track exploration metrics including pipeline movement and resource updates on quarterly and annual basis.
• Manage and support the Strategic Planning Process for ABX Exploration
• Provide support for economic template update via liaison with Evaluations
• Ensure BXS presentations are relevant and current and communicate exploration processes internally (and externally), as required
• Owner of BXS tools and templates
• Oversee filing structure and records management

  Key Skills & Experience Required

• Bachelors Degree in Geology or Mineral Economics as well as 8 years industry experience
• Outstanding research and analytical skills
• Outstanding communication skills – oral, written
• Prioritizes work, uses time efficiently and able to work independently
• Strong Office competency (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) skills
• Working GIS skills
