Ten of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.   We are seeking an Engineering Services Manager for our Regional Head Office in Perth. Reporting to the regional Senior Manager of Mining you will be responsible for development, implementation and management of mining engineering systems for our regional Shared Services, to ensure optimal technical services are provided to the regional operations to enable achievement of long and short term business objectives.   Key responsibilities:

• Deliver reserve modeling and estimation for the Life of Mine Plan.
• Integrate and deliver the Life of Mine Plan and Budget.
• Design, construct and manage the systems to provide mine engineering and technical support.
• Provide all mine engineering support to agreed cost, quality, quantity and schedule.  
• Ensure the integration of mine engineering systems across the sites to ensure synergies and efficiencies in systems and services for the customer.
• Maintain a formal management reporting system that incorporates performance statistics, any applicable statutory requirements and business improvement initiatives.
• Assist the General Managers in developing the overall business strategy, particularly in regard to engineering and technical support.
• Set direction and lead the team consistent with Barrick’s Values.
• Achieve safe and healthy working conditions, promote a high level of health and safety awareness and be responsible for the safe and efficient management of department.  
• Lead and promote the development of a culture of workforce environmental care and respect.
• Develop the Annual Plan for the department and drive achievement of continuous improvement targets. 
• Prepare and manage the budget for the department.
• Ensure the development and maintenance of up to date job procedures for all tasks performed within the department.
• Ensure opportunities are maximized for sharing processes and support services across Barrick.
• Maintain appropriate level of visibility and accessibility throughout team and customer base.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent certification required, Engineering, Science or similar is preferred
• Significant experience in senior positions, including experience in a site-based environment.
• Experience in leading a multi-disciplinary technical support team in a customer-oriented environment. 
• Experience in Life of Mine Planning and Mine Planning.
• Experience in the development and implementation of management systems.
• Demonstrated experience in developing engineering strategies as part of a business leadership team.
• Extensive project management experience. 
• Proven ability to deliver results and lead a team in delivering a high level of customer support.
• Demonstrated experience in managing change within large organisations.
• Experience in managing department costs and budgeting.
• Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas.
• High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in WA.
• Mine planning software and MS Project
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
• Confident communicator with senior management, legal entities and external stakeholders.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills.
• Strong customer service focus.
