Position Summary
CAD Drafter- providing detailed drawings and related maps to be reviewed and used in underground mine planning and construction of mine engineering projects
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 Reviews rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from Mining Engineers.
 Plots maps and charts showing profiles and cross-sections from the engineering data received.
 Computes volume of tonnage of excavations and fills and prepares graphs and hauling diagrams used in earthmoving operations.
 Assists survey crew in field to collect data required for work or revision of drawings.

While performing the duties of this job, employees may be frequently required to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; use hand and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Employees may be frequently exposed to underground work environments; outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in most work environments is usually very loud. Work involves
driving a utility vehicle in an underground environment. Ability to safely use a respirator required. This position may require work on weekends and rotating shifts; shift schedules may require residency in on-island camp during work rotations.
Education Requirements
Associates Degree in Drafting preferred, Surveying or related field also considered; or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree.
Experience
Prefer two or more years experience in drafting work. Must have AutoCAD experience. The ability to learn and use survey equipment to produce data, analyze and summarize into computer generated reports and maps is required. Knowledge of Microsoft and other software (Excel, Word, and Notepad) preferred.
