Purpose:

To provide appropriately trained and skilled talent for operations within the region.  Establishment of networks and relationships with training and education institutions and organizations in the region developing a world class traineeship program producing skilled tradespersons and operators with international standards sourced from the local region with positive results for the organizations success in Suriname.

Essential Duties:

• Ensure the department’s compliance with the requirement of Government of Suriname’s Agencies, Surgold’s lending institutions, shareholders’ interests, environmental health and 
    safety legislation and company regulations.
• Identify the training requirements for this region.
• Design and develop the training policies, processes, programs and activities required to meet the operational needs of Newmont Gold, including, language, cultural, basic work skills, administrative, equipment operation, skilled trades, information technology and application, and develop an effective selection process and trades apprenticeship program.
• Administer and develop curriculum and support materials for all learning and development programs by drawing on local resources, as well as other Newmont regions.
• Ensure cost effective competency based training programs are delivered to Surinam employees to develop required skills.
• Develop, plan and supervise the construction and furnishing of training facilities.
• Manage, coordinate and integrate the vendor supplied training programs, materials, and talent to achieve maximum potential and efficiency for employee development.
• Implement and monitor activities supporting the company’s Global Talent Management program.
• Establish and maintain training materials, production of training videos, and other relative training supplies to ensure an up to date training program.
• Maintain and promote a performance management system for all positions in compliance and consistent with company requirements.
• Accept responsibility for the health and safety of every employee under or assigned to his/her supervision.

Qualifications

Training & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Education, Business, or Technical Degree, or equivalent combination of training and experience in a leading large multi-national mining industry.
• Minimum of ten (10) years Technical/Vocational training management and implementation experience.
• A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing is required. 
• Possess a thorough knowledge of competency based curriculum development and design.
• Desired experience in aligning and training programs to international industry defined competency standards and be familiar with these standards.
• Desired experience to be able to effectively and timely transfer new technology embodied in the mining, plant and other infrastructure equipment to Surinam trainers in operations and 
    maintenance areas.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
