The Opportunity: 

This role is primarily an individual contributor role that provides Engineering services to the PMO Project Manager. The Sr. Project Engineer works collaterally with his/her peers in the PMO Group and cross functionally with all other areas of the operations to complete tasks in his/her area of accountability in the execution of the overall project plan.

Accountabilities:

- Coordinates internal and external Engineering services for multi-disciplinary projects

  at various sites in a manner that will meet business needs and is in accordance with

  Vale’s project management principles of Safety, Quality, Scope, Schedule and

  Cost.
- Assists in the development of departmental work plans and schedules and the

  execution of assigned projects. 
- Serve as the primary plant support for engineering and project execution items.
- Works with the plants to identify, develop and scope out operating projects in

  sufficient detail to secure engineering or other services as required to create

  execution documents.
- Works with the plants to identify capital projects and identify service groups that will

  provide Study Managers.
- Will function as a Study Manager and/or as a representative of the Plant for a select

  group of projects.
- Periodically report on progress and budget adherence for engineering and Capital

  Projects to the Plants.
 

Education:

- The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in engineering

   (or Equivalent) and be a Professional Engineer.
  
Experience:  

- The ideal candidate will have a minimum 5 years of related experience. 

Knowledge and Skills: 

- Continuous improvement training
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products 
- Valid Drivers license required
