Our Client:
Our client is a privately-held oil sands company that has assembled a strong management team bringing together individuals with extensive experience in oil sands development in the Athabasca region with the resources of one of the largest energy companies in the world and having extensive field experience in operational methods and SAGD processes. The company¡¦s first Commercial Project is expected to produce 150,000 bpd bitumen with an initial phase of 35,000 bpd projected for 2014 start-up. Concurrently, the company is also working on a separate commercial project targeted for 2015 startup.
As a 'start-up' the company is looking for smart, innovative, and energetic individuals who are eager to roll up their sleeves and contribute to their small and rapidly growing team as they all work together to define their processes, systems, and technologies and bring new ideas to life. With the size and scale of their project, and multiple phases being planned to immediately follow the completion of Phase 1 in 2014, there will be numerous opportunities to learn and grow together as they complete subsequent phases.
Reporting Structure:
The position will report to the Field Operations Manager.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
The Production Superintendent provides strong visible leadership within the Operations group in the areas of safety, sustainable development, cost control, revenue generation and organizational effectiveness by managing the process and securing the resources to effectively manage Operations.
This position will initially be based out of Calgary and will transition to Ft. McMurray, prior to start up of the Plant.
„h Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all facility HSE and safe operating practices/policies and help foster key safety values within the Operations group.
„h Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all business systems that affect the operation of the facility with specific attention to the Field and Process areas.
„h Responsible for the operation and reliability of the processing areas of the plant; this includes field, bitumen treating, tank farm, etc. and all other associated product handling facilities.
„h Coach and guide both shift and daily operations personnel on technical issues.
„h Hold accountabilities associated with our core work processes through coaching.
„h Accountable to manage Capital and Operating expenditures in facility.
„h Manage all planned outage activities in area of responsibility.
„h Indirect reporting relationships with the Field and Process Operators and share reporting relationship with the Shift Team Leaders.
„h Play a leadership role in safe and efficient operations for area of responsibility.
„h Lead or participate in incident investigation and RCA efforts in area of responsibility.
„h Play an active role in the Complex ERP team.
Skills/Qualifications:
„h 5 ¡V 10 years of SAGD Operations experience with a minimum of a 3rd Class Power engineering Certificate.
„h Must have a high degree of understanding of all of the work processes required to enable the facility to achieve its goals in all facets of Operations Excellence.
„h The individual must have strong leadership skills to lead and manage a diverse group of employees, excellent communication, interpersonal skills, a high level of competency in SAGD processing and Maintenance Management.
„h Knowledge of HSE-MS with emphasis on risk assessment and HTA, experience with budgeting and financial accountability and a basic understanding of marketing.
„h Strong oral and written communication skills.
„h Ability to lead and get work done through self and others; results orientated and effective delegator.
„h Strong organizational skills.
„h Previous supervisory experience preferred.
