Job Title: Senior Production Metallurgist To: Process Plant Technical Services Superintendent. Location: Pueblo Viejo Mine. Position Overview: The incumbent contributes to all aspects during construction and ensure that all process based initiatives are implemented, as required through to and including commissioning, training and future operations. Main Duties & Responsibilities: · Management of water balance, including monitoring and setting reclaim water rates · Teach the process fundamentals and support the training program for new employees before the plant start up. · Participate in the implementation of the safety and training programs, including (but not limited to) the update and/or the development of the Standard Operating Procedures, (SOP’s), Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMP’s), Workplace Inspections, Task Observations and Training Certification programs · Assist, as required with activities associated with pre-commissioning, commissioning & handover. Ensure that appropriate baseline data is collected during commissioning, well documented and data is appropriately stored into the operations history database. · Closely follow the production and monitoring the process plant performance indicators and assist the operating and maintenance personnel in maintaining the highest levels of safety, throughput, quality and productivity. The accomplishment of this role requires a close coordination with the Senior Metallurgist. · Supervise the testing of the process plant and water treatment circuits and predict the behaviour of the different systems under various scenarios. · Responsible to follow up the operating parameters of the plant and suggest corrections, if necessary, in coordination with the operational staff, the Senior Metallurgist and the Technical Service Superintendent. · Responsible to report to the Technical Services Superintendent the records of reagent consumption rates, reagent inventory and advice for any logistic correction needed to maintain the right amount of reagent on-site. · Responsible for all aspects of metal and production accounting, metallurgical balance, metal security tracking and water balance. · Responsible for the daily, monthly and yearly production reports. · In coordination with the maintenance department, follow up the wears of crusher concaves, crusher and mill liners wears, ball and sag mill balls, vibrating screen panels, hydrocyclones, etc. In coordination with the operation staff and vendors, look for new designs or alternatives materials / applications to improve safety and plant productivity. · Run quick test / metallurgical testworks for quality control and quality assurance (QA/QC) of reagents and consumables and participate, with the maintenance department, in the calibration of field sensor and instrument to get a reliable data acquisition network, improve the plant productivity and operability of the circuits. · Participate in continuous improvement programs and look for opportunities to improve productivity and throughput, reduce operating costs and improve recovery. · Provide technical advice on the different processing facilities along the process plant. · Carry out plant test work/trials in coordination with the Senior Metallurgist and the Superintendent and interpret subsequent results to accurately report on metallurgical projects. · Watch the environmental process plant parameters in the areas of air emission, particulate emission and water quality (discharge) along all the process plant facility and coordinate/suggest the necessary action plans to correct any deviation and avoid occurrence with the operational staff. Supervisory Requirements: · 1 Junior metallurgist (Engineer) · 2 Data Clerk or Statisticians Clerk. · 2 Lab Metallurgical Technician. Education: A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Mining, Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering. Experience: 5+ years experience in a technology or process plant environment. Skills & Abilities: Experience should demonstrate your ability to train and develop others to follow and maintain processes and systems established. Willing to travel as required. Above average communication skills, able to speak, read, and write in English. Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.
