 Barrick is headquartered in Toronto, Canada and has 27 mining operations with many advanced exploration projects located across 5 continents and a large number of tenements located on some of the most prolific and prospective mineral trends.  11 of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.   Barrick (Granny Smith) Pty Ltd is located 950kms north east of Perth and 23kms south of Laverton and has been one of Australia’s leading gold producers for the last 15 years.  With continued growth in our underground mining operations and an exciting exploration portfolio, the projected mine life is 8 years based on the current reserves.   We are currently seeking an experienced Condition Monitoring Technician to join the team at Granny Smith. Reporting directly to the Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for plant inspections and acquiring data to identify and mitigate unplanned equipment failures and improve overall equipment reliability.   Key Responsibilities

• Undertake equipment inspections, oil sampling and thermography
• Analyse the condition monitoring data and report on findings on a regular basis to maintenance and operations
• Provide input into the review/update of task PM’s and activities, ensuring all PM’s and activities have clear purpose in assessing component condition and preventing failures
• Participate in root cause failure analysis for major equipment failures
• Identify and implement corrective actions for recurring or premature component failures
• Develop measurements to track the performance of the predictive maintenance processes
• Monitor equipment wear rates, and use this data to optimise timing/scheduling of tasks
• Liaise with other Maintenance Planners, scheduler and execution team members to ensure that all corrective work arising

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications/skills and experience:

• Trade qualifications in Mechanical and/or Electrical trade
• Experience in mining/minerals processing
• Knowledge of lubrication and tribology principles
• Knowledge and understanding of different condition monitoring technologies (Condition Monitoring training; Vibration Analysis, Thermography, Oil Analysis, NDT techniques)
• Experience with ORACLE or similar
• Current “C”” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
• St Johns Senior First Aid certificate desirable
• Understanding of relevant sections of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
