Position Summary
Repairs and maintains surface and milling systems including floating, grinding, de-watering and heavy equipment operation applicable to the KGCMC mill.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Position
Maintains all process-related systems and equipment including grinding mills, conveyor systems, flotation circuits, pumps, pressure filters, hydraulic systems, air compressors, water treatment, ship loader and batch plant facilities in a safe, efficient manner.
Performs safe, efficient project planning, job setup and layout work. Requisitions parts. Maintains housekeeping to standards.
Proficient at welding and cutting.
Maintains and operates loaders, bobcats, forklifts, overhead cranes and boom trucks.
Familiar with mechanical aspects of PC-based distributive control systems, preventative and predictive maintenance programs, and basic system operating techniques.
Familiar with lockout and tag-out safety systems, chemical handling and MSDS documents.

While performing the duties of this job, employees may be frequently required to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; use hand and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Employees may be frequently exposed to underground work environments; outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in most work environments is usually very loud. Work involves driving a utility vehicle in an underground environment. Ability to safely use a respirator required. This position may require work on weekends and rotating shifts; shift schedules may require residency in on-island camp during work rotations.
Education/Experience Requirements
Prefer five years fixed plant maintenance experience with journey level millwright skills.
