Accountable to the Mine Exploration Coordinator, this role is accountable for providing assistance to Geologists and other key exploration staff, primarily with drilling, geochemical sampling, and geophysical surveying. This role is FIFO 8/6 based at the Tropicana Gold Mine.

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

• Process diamond core including mark-up, SGs, mag-sus and core cutting.
• Conduct auger, RAB, aircore and RC drilling sampling as required.
• Perform geochemical sampling including soil, stream sediment, lag and costrean.
• Operate field computers including data entry of drill hole and sample information.
• Conduct gridding and surveying including GPS operation.
• Operate and maintain 4WD vehicles and other equipment safely and as required by the appropriate roles and procedures.
• Assist with geophysical surveys where required.
• Establish, maintain and resupply field camps.
• Assist Environmental, Archaeological and other consultants as required.
• Complete all tasks in accordance with all relevant safety instructions, procedures and rules and the Duty of care for employees as legislated.
• Attend and participate in safety and toolbox meetings, training courses and inductions as required.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Geoscience Field Practices Certificate or at least 3 months previous exploration experience
• Current WA drivers licence
• Senior First Aid Certificate
• Good numeracy, literacy and communication skills
• Physically capable of performing tasks requiring considerable amount of lifting and manual handling
• Ability to work in remote locations with basic accommodation (tents or swags), catering and communications infrastructure, and limited accress to recreational and medical facilities.
• Tolerance to heat, dust and extreme environmental conditions
