Maersk Oil Qatar AS is the leading oil producer offshore Qatar and a recognized pioneer in oil development and production techniques. On the basis of an Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement signed in 1992 with Qatar Petroleum, Maersk Oil Qatar AS is the sole operator of the Al Shaheen Field and currently engaged in one of the largest oil projects in the world with capital investments of approximately 6 billion USD, comprising the drilling of more than 160 additional production and water injection wells. The current oil production from the Al Shaheen Field is approximately 300,000 barrels/day.

The Position

With strong static modeling skills and broad background experience in operations and field development planning, the Senior/Lead Geologist will have a key position in building, updating and using geological and static models for reservoir management and development planning.

Responsibilities include:

• Initiating reservoir studies, actively ensuring that the geological and static models are robust and address the reservoir complexity
• Ensuring that geological understanding is integrated when making decisions regarding well placement, completion, reservoir management and further development activities
• Internally and externally representing Maersk Oil Qatar AS on reservoir modeling matters. Through proficient coordination and communication ensuring effective cooperation with external and internal parties
• Planning, optimizing and coordinating field development activities
• Proactively identifying and implementing improvements to current workflows and processes
• Working closely with the Field Development Planning team in the company headquarters
• Actively developing the geoscience community within Maersk Oil
• Pursuing scope for increased oil recovery in the short, medium and long term.
• Helping develop junior geoscience staff for generalist and specialist careers.

Required Qualifications

• B.Sc. Engineering or higher degree
• Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience
• A team player with strong analytical abilities
• Significant experience within reservoir characterization, static modeling, reservoir management, operational experience would be a significant advantage
• Fluent in English – written and spoken
