Principal Structural Engineer –Anchorage, AK

Our Principal Structural Engineer positions provide you with an opportunity to work on medium to large scale oil & gas refinery projects.  Each day you will be an important team lead as you participate and lead the design, coordination and execution of civil structural projects for our clients.  You should be a self-motivated, detail oriented professional with 15 or more  years of experience in civil structural design work and also have a Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering. You should have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each new structural engineering task.

Our Principal Structural Engineers:

• Serve as a team leader on medium to large sized projects requiring multi-discipline design teams
• Oversee and direct the work of others, engineer quality assurance and assist in training and leading intermediate and junior level engineers
• Under minimal supervision, will independently evaluate, select and apply industry standard engineering techniques and procedures related to structural engineering
• Work on projects including process equipment supporting structures, pipe racks, foundations for large petrochemical process vessels, process buildings, containment structurs, industrial and commercial buildings and seismic retrofit of existing structures.

SPECIAL NOTE: Preference will be given to candidates residing in the greater Anchorage area. CH2M HILL will not sponsor a work visa (e.g. H-1B visa, etc.) to fill this position.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in either Structural or Civil Engineering from accredited college or university is required
• 15 years minimum experience in structural design of concrete and steel structures for the petrochemical industry
• PE license for Alaska or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
• Detailed knowledge of the IBC 2006 Building Code
• Previous leadership experience and strong written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to function well as a member of a team
• Must be computer literate in basic engineering analysis and design software including STAAD Pro, Enercalc, MathCAD, Foundation 3D, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from accredited college or university
• Prior exposure to blast mitigation of existing buildings is desirable
• Working knowledge of relevant FEMA documents and Process Industry Practices Standards is desirable
