This role will be responsible for:
• Supervising, coordinating and scheduling the activities of both mines’ Technical Services sections personnel to optimize utilization of resources and deliver on the annual Brazion objectives and targets
• Providing support for short, medium and long term operation of open pit coal mines
• Ensuring all of the mining activities carried out by Technical Services Department's team members are in line with the Brazion Mine’s targets and budget and are focused on health, safety and the environment
Required
• 10+ years of progressive experience in mining engineering and geology with demonstrated experience in an operating mine environment
• B. Sc. Mining Engineering, P. Eng. Certification in BC or ability to become a P.Eng. in BC
• Practical experience in all types of mining, coal open pit will be preferred
• Experience in leading a multi-disciplinary technical support team
• Experience in Life of Mine planning and budgeting
• Knowledge of mining technology and heavy production equipment
• Demonstrated experience in developing engineering strategies as part of a leadership team
• Experience in developing budgets and managing costs
• Experience with Rocky Mountain geology would be an asset
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels
• Strong interpersonal skills, as well as written, oral and presentation skills
• Ability to engage people in continuous improvement processes
• A proven track record of delivering on safety, environmental and sustainable development commitments
• Able to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
• Forward thinking with ability to contribute at a strategic level
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Basic understanding of computerized mine planning software and being able to direct and coach mine planning engineers in practical aspects of planning for mine production and operations
• Ability to direct the mine design from virtual to actual
