Reporting to the Superintendent the successful candidate is responsible for organizing, coordinating and supervising all activities in his or her assigned sector, and makes sure that they are carried out safely and in accordance with the division's guidelines. The Supervisor will support and advise multi-skilled team members in order to develop their individual and group skills, and to set up efficient work methods and practices. Overseeing the observance of production, maintenance or operating procedures and standards in his/her sector, health, safety and environment standards, quality control. Also sees to it that good working relations are maintained, and that the company's values and mission are fulfilled. The sector's demands may require him/her to be available on a rotation basis to ensure the continuity of operations. Responsibilities
- Actively participates in IOC's safety program, role models appropriate safety behaviours (safety observations, group safety talks, planned general inspections, accident/incident investigations, etc.)
- Provide leadership in team building, planning, and establishing clear measures that keep everyone focused on safety, results, and the customer. Arrange appropriate training for team members, review work performance and deal with collective agreement issues and action plans
- Supervise, coordinate and monitor the execution of scheduled work plans and unplanned emergency and breakdown work, determining sequence and assignments based on work priority and availability of equipment and manpower
- Ensure team members work safely and follow all safety standards and safe work practices
- Provide good customer service and maintain a continuous improvement focus by working with customers and team members to resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve operational productivity and quality
- Provide timely data into various information systems (i.e. work order history, employee pay details, monthly reports, etc.)
- Shows good technical expertise in the area under his/her supervision and actively helps to improve tools, equipment, methods and processes to ensure sound human, material and financial resource management for his/her sector, to improve organizational efficiency and comply with the laws, regulations and standards in effect, in accordance with the ''LEAN" approach and the company's change management process. Implements improvement projects when needed or provides support to the engineering department
- Manage maintenance activities on nights and weekends
The ideal candidate must hold an Electrical Technologist diploma, Electrical Engineering degree or Journeyperson Electrician designation with 3-5 years experience in an industrial environment.
