A Diesel Diagnostic Mechanic performs preventative maintenance on heavy equipment such as, but not limited to: Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Rubber Tire and Track Dozers, Front-end Loaders, and Motor Graders. May maintain fleet vehicles such as pick-up trucks and vans. Must be proficient in troubleshooting machine systems such as: hydraulic, power train and engines. Proficient in component replacement such as transmissions, engines, differentials, torque convertors and final drives. Will troubleshoot problems on equipment. Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections. Ability to prioritize repairs and possess excellent decision making skills. Work closely with other team members to maintain a clean, safe work area. Proficient in layout and design and the ability to work from blueprints.
- Perform routine and non-routine maintenance activities
- Complete Work Orders, order parts, and other maintenance documentation
- Ability to repair, install, fabricate, rebuild, troubleshoot and preventative maintenance of process equipment i.e. pumps, conveyors, dryers, gearboxes, filters, etc. Capable of performing equipment lubrication.
- Competent in mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, welding, bearings, basic metallurgy (stress cracking, metal compatibility), conveyor systems, plumbing, alignment, machine shop, blue prints, schematics, and mobile equipment. Qualified to operate small and large cranes and knowledgeable of safe rigging practices.
- Follows and understands MSHA rules and regulations, Environmental rules and regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and work area instructions, participates in safety and environmental activities, uses plant and equipment correctly at all times.
- Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned according to business need.
- Two (2) years experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
- Proficiency in welding/cutting (MIG, TIG, ARC, Oxy-acetylene)
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, welding, plumbing, machine shop, blue prints, schematics, fabrication, and part lists and repair.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair.
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating larger than twenty (20) ton mobile crane
- Certified in welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, Arc)
- High School diploma or GED
Criteria/Conditions
- Work is performed in a manufacturing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electric shock, toxic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles.
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, see and work in confined spaces.
- Occasionally may be asked required to life moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday.
- Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety foot wear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment as required.
- Will be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation.
